Corephotonis on EE Times Silicon 60: Startups to Watch

CorePhotonics Ltd. (Tel Aviv, Israel) was founded in 2012 by Professor David Mendlovic of Tel Aviv University, a former chief scientist of the Ministry of Science and today the company’s CEO, and has become a pioneer of multi-aperture cameras for smartphones. In 2017 the company raised $15 million from in a round that included Samsung Ventures, mobile phone contract manufacturer Foxconn and chipmaker MediaTek. The company also has a cooperation with camera module integrator Samsung Electro-Mechanics (SEMCO) to develop a complete reference design based on its dual camera IP. Corephotonics offers zoom capabilities while keeping the tele-objective mechanics within the low-profile constraints of smartphones.
